This link is being talked about more and more and is becoming very popular. The real benefit here is that all young people take part in sport and physical activity at school, but a lot less take part in activities after school within a club environment. This link is an important one for clubs and would help to begin to address this drop off in participation.
By developing a school club link, it gives young people the chance to carry on taking part in sport and physical activity from their young school days all the way to and throughout their adult lives.
Some communities are not aware that clubs exist in their area, so it is a good idea to use posters to promote the club and increase the awareness of their sport/activity. It is also a useful tool to introduce club coaches to local school children as youngsters are more likely to attend if they have had previous contact with coaches/organisers.
It is beneficial for schools and clubs to work together to share and make the best use of people (coaches), facilities and equipment. School teachers offer a range of sporting and physical activity opportunities for youngsters, but by bringing a sport/activity specific coach into the school to deliver an after school session, this could give pupils a real taste of a wide range of sports/activities. Schools would then serve to promote these clubs and encourage youngsters to become club members to get more regular opportunities to take part.
