Taking your club further

Well, you’ve got the basics in place.

This section is all about taking the next steps to move your club forward and build on what you’ve got.

rowing2Now that you have a club with a regular training and playing programme, qualified coaches, enthusiastic volunteers and the correct policy and procedures in place you may want to think of ways to further develop certain aspects of your club. e.g.

  • attracting more members;
  • developing your coaches;
  • getting more volunteers involved to help support your larger club;
  • apply for funding to purchase more training equipment.

Whatever your needs, this section is aimed at helping to point you in the right direction to take your club further.

Here is a brief overview of what you will find in this section.

MEMBERS: This section looks at ways of keeping track of your existing members and considerations to maximise your recruitment efforts.

COACHING: This section will help your club look at ways to manage your coaches, help coaches improve their knowledge and skills and to access new development within coaching.

VOLUNTEERS: This section is all about the 3 Rs: recruitment, retention and reward.

PLAYING PROGRAMME:  For your club to be successful it is vital that the pathways and structures in place enable people to learn basic skills, participate at a level at which they are comfortable to develop their competence and if desired perform at the highest level possible.

FACILITIES & FUNDING: This section moves forward to look at other ways of finding premises/opening up your own premises to other users.

MANAGING YOUR CLUB: This section looks at further developing the administration duties that need to be undertaken to manage your club effectively.

WELFARE: This section can be used to help your club be more aware of welfare issues and adopt the right policies and ways of working.

FAIRNESS FOR ALL: It’s important in sport as elsewhere that everyone has equal status and opportunities.
