Community Chest

If there is one group of people (in the main volunteers) who are the key driving force behind sport in Wales, it is coaches. The education of coaches is paramount and no barrier should be allowed to exist, especially that of funding. The Community Chest scheme is a Sports Council for Wales (SCW) National Lottery funded programme. It is intended to make a difference to local sport and support activities which will increase participation and improve standards of performance in sport, particularly amongst young people. This means that a sports club can apply for funding towards coach education courses for it coaches and volunteers. Coach education is a high priority of this grant scheme.

Clubs are eligible to apply on behalf of the coaches, provided the club have a bank or building society account in the name of the organisation. Clubs should contact their local Community Chest Officer.

Funding may also be available from your national governing body in the form of coaching bursaries or they may know of other funding opportunities.
