It's a good idea to create a 'Welcome Pack' for all new members. This helps them to find their way around, and feel at-home more quickly. It makes them feel valued and will help them to stay committed to your club.

A Welcome Pack might include:

• a welcome letter from the Chair; 
• the club handbook, or list of club rules; 
• details of the club programme, with important dates, times and locations;
• a calendar of training nights and match dates;
• information about your local leagues and competitions; 
• contact details for the National Governing Body; 
• important club contacts e.g. Treasurer, Secretary, Welfare Officer;
• copies of important club policies e.g. child protection policy, or the health and safety policy.

Skills

It’s important to get to know your members as they may have a skill that could benefit your club e.g. a lawyer to look at any new policies or legal documentation (e.g. facility lease), a journalist to write press releases, an accountant to take on the financial duties of the club (e.g. budgets, funding applications).
