From policy to implementation

Taking it further

Once the foundations are in place you should be aiming to develop a child protection implementation plan.

200px-NSPCCThe implementation plan is a comprehensive plan which ensures robust child protection procedures are being developed. The implementation plan is based on the NSPCC 9 standards and focuses on the following areas of your child protection procedures:

  1. The Policy;
  2. Procedures and Systems;
  3. Prevention;
  4. Codes of Practice and Behaviour;
  5. Equity;
  6. Communication;
  7. Education and Training;
  8. Access to Advice and Support;
  9. Implementation and Monitoring.

Working on an implementation plan will ensure that your existing child protection policy and procedures are developed to ensure your club has a robust approach to the welfare of children and young people.

Some of the areas identified in the implementation plan you will have already addressed. However there may be some that you have not yet considered and this is a good tool for a self evaluation of your club.

The Child Protection in Sport Unit have their own website resources and training events that you can access to make sure your club has everything in place.
